Curious story in CityAM today: that Alisher Usmanov is offering £14,000 for Arsenal shares compared with the Kroenke offer price of £12,500.
Now Usmanov and Kroenke already own the vast majority of Arsenal shares and don’t even meet face to face, let alone cut share deals. So presumably Usmanov is looking to hoover up the odd share here or there.
Will he get many takers? Well times are hard and he’s offering a windfall price for some. But even if does find some sellers, there are not many ‘available’ shares out there so more of a signal than a significant move.
Maybe he’s just saying ‘hey I’m still here and it’s going to cost plenty to get me out’. And he loves Arsenal of course!
