Full marks to the Mirror this morning for putting an unexpected new name in the frame. Monday can be a tough day for newspapers so they’ve done well with this one.
Having read it several times, delved deep between the lines and wrung out the quotes, I don’t think the piece stands up too well. The main ‘evidence’ is that Arsene Wenger praised Doyle’s performance for Ireland in the World Cup play-off against France a couple of years ago!
Kevin Doyle’s a decent enough striker but £12 million? To go to Arsenal?
