Let me see now, I can probably guess half the line up, but I’m going to have to look it up to be certain.
________ Jennings __________
Talbot _ Hollins _ O’Leary _ Sansom
Robson _ Davis __ Petrovic __ Rix
___ Sunderland _ Woodcock ___
Well, it is a bit early to be looking forward to this Saturday yet!
Our last home game against Swansea was on New Years Day 1983. The score was Arsenal 2:1 Swansea.
Alan Sunderland got the first. Lee Chapman came on for Sunderland and scored the second.
I don’t think I was there, but I can’t honestly remember. We beat them away that season as well. The previous season we lost to them twice.
And that was it: Swansea’s brief two year appearance in the top flight. A quarter of Lee Chapman’s Arsenal goals. Arsenal finished the season tenth and lost in the semi-final of both cups to Ron Atkinson’s Manchester United. By the end of the year, Arsenal Manager Terry Neill was gone and Swansea were playing in the Second Division.
