So here’s the squad for tonight. Basically everyone you might expect to start against Chelsea next weekend gets a break and Vermaelen gets an extended tester.
Lukasz Fabianski
Vito Mannone
Sebastien Squillaci
Thomas Vermaelen
Andrey Arshavin
Emmanuel Frimpong
Yossi Benayoun
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
Francis Coquelin
Ryo
Ju Young Park
Nico Yennaris
Ignasi Miquel
Jernade Meade
Oguzhan Ozyakup
Sanchez Watt
Chuks Aneke
Daniel Boateng
First off, no Santos or Djourou. So I guess Yennaris (right) and Meade (left) will start as fullbacks. Let’s assume that Vermaelen will start properly warmed up rather than come as a sub – who will start alongside? I think it could be Squillaci, with Miquel or Boateng coming on when Vermaelen has had enough of a run-out.
Will it be Frimpong or Coquelin in front of the back four? Not sure what the relative pecking order is for these two at the moment. Coquelin has been treated to coverage on Arsenal.com today, does that mean he starts? Last time against Shrewsbury both started.
I think that Benayoun will get a start to add some experience, but Arshavin could be held back for a sub appearance if needed. Park and Oxlade-Chamberlain seem certain starters.
How about:
________ Fabianski ______
Yennaris _ Seb _ TV _ Meade
Ox-Cham _ Coquelin _ Frimp
_ Ryo __ Park _ Benayoun _
What do you think?
